More money saving tips from the Money Maven. Today I am blogging about how I saved 74 percent on my prescription drugs.


Those of you familiar with the Money Maven Blog know I am living off my investments so I do not have employer-provided health insurance.  I buy my health insurance from the marketplace.  I have high out-of-pocket costs.  I try to save money wherever I can on healthcare and prescriptions.

In 2021, I was using Express Scripts to buy my prescriptions.  I paid a $43.84 insurance co-pay for a 90-day supply.  In 2022 Express Scripts was no longer an option for me.  In early 2022 I heard about Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company.  I tried it.  Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company does not accept my insurance.  It does not accept most insurance. My prescription cost $11.60.  It was $6.60 plus a $5 shipping charge.

I saved 74 percent on my prescription!

I have had this prescription filled for the past year and the price has remained the same at $11.60.  The prescriptions arrive pretty quickly.  It has taken from 4 to 7 days from when I ordered for the prescription to show up in the mail.
